This exclusive four-day workshop will provide a forum for professionals to work directly with the next generation of photojournalists. The faculty represents organizations such as Time, National Geographic, Parade, The New York Times, People, Sports Illustrated, Reuters, Miami Herald, Houston Chronicle, The Washington Post and others. Over the years, the event has drawn the participation of many great photographers including, Eddie Adams, Harry Benson, Eric Draper, Bill Eppridge, Tom Franklin, Walter Loos, David Kennerly, Douglas Kirkland, Heinz Kluetmeier, Mary Ellen Mark, Joe McNally, Carl Mydans, Gordon Parks, Joe Rosenthal and Nick Ut.
"We are pleased to continue our support of Barnstorm: The Eddie Adams Workshop as part of the Nikon Spirit Initiative," remarked Anna Marie Bakker, director of Communications, Nikon Inc. "Nikon could think of no better way to commemorate Eddie Adams than to help ensure that future legends arise through this program."
During the workshop, the 100 chosen student participants are divided equally into ten teams. They are then paired with a photographer, an editor and a researcher, all working pros within the field of photojournalism. Each day is divided between shooting, editing, speeches and panel discussions.
Students will also have the opportunity for one-on-one time with editors to discuss their portfolios at what is known as the "11:30 Club". Since the workshop's inception, Nikon has assumed a large role in sponsoring the event sending equipment and professionals to teach, lecture and provide technical support. Each year, several Nikon executives and members of Nikon's Professional Services offer their expertise in panel discussions and are on hand to provide technical support.
In addition to the event sponsorship, this is the second year that Nikon will award a $10,000 scholarship to the top student at the Barnstorm Workshop. The student will be selected by a panel of judges based on the best quality of work presented at the workshop. The scholarship must be used by the winning student to further their education in the photographic arts field, and will be applied towards their tuition and/or housing at the college of attendance.

While participation in the workshop is highly competitive, the selection process is based solely on the merit of the students' submitted portfolios. The top 100 students chosen to participate are determined by these submissions. Graduates of the workshop are considered among the top young talent in the photojournalism field.
