NIKON ACTIVATES AT ADOBE MAX 2023

LOS ANGELES, CA —

Nikon is pleased to announce that the company will be an engagement sponsor at the Adobe MAX 2023 Creativity Conference from October 10-12 in Los Angeles, CA. Nikon will also use the show as an opportunity to display new advances in image provenance technology.

Attendee Portraits
At the conference, Nikon is partnering with Adobe to offer complimentary professional portraits for credentialed attendees. This is a great opportunity to update your social media profiles and presence with a high quality headshot, courtesy of Nikon. The images will be captured on-site, with Nikon mirrorless cameras and NIKKOR Z lenses. Sessions will be first come, first serve on October 10-12, and images will be sent electronically to participating attendees.

Image Provenance Technology
A sample Nikon Z 9 specially equipped with the image provenance function, including Content Credentials, currently in development, will be exhibited at MAX 2023 at the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) exhibit space at the conference. In recent years, there has been an increase in misinformation, plagiarism and copyright infringement, all of which can be attributed to the falsification and unauthorized use of images. Nikon believes the protection of individuals and enterprises involved in the imaging industry, as well as the entirety of society, from the unfavorable results of these actions is a global issue.

While currently in development, this function supports confirmation of the authenticity of images by attaching information to include their sources and provenances. The function specially implemented in the Z 9 employs a new hash value recording method (General Boxes Hash assertion) added in the C2PA Specifications. Additionally, Nikon has applied this recording method to the Multi-Picture Format (MPF)1 used in Nikon's digital cameras, and we are steadily progressing with development to incorporate this function into cameras.

This display product will demonstrate technical advancements when compared to the prototype shown previously. Moving forward, we will start to verify the function’s practicality in user’s workflow in collaboration with our partner companies.

*The objective of this exhibit is to introduce that the image provenance function is currently under development. Use of the Nikon Z 9 for this exhibition does not mean or imply that this specific model will one day be equipped with this function.
